The internet is wonderful and we now have a vast array of tools and platforms with which we can contact customers and prospective customers. Yay! We actually can do business with customers from all around the world. However, for most professional services firms the majority of their customers are still based in their home market and often in the same city. What does this mean? Local Content Marketing is vitally important. In the case of Marketing Fundamental Ltd that means London. For all the appeal of the global marketplace most of our retained clients are based in London. In this post I have highlighted four practical ways you can improve the effectiveness of your Local Content Marketing.
Local Content Marketing
1. Keywords
I will assume that you have an SEO strategy for your website. Your targeted keywords should include your location as well as your areas of expertise. I will not deep dive into SEO here but if you want to explore the subject more please read this post – How to optimise your blog – 5 steps .
2. Local Video
This is a relatively quick win. When creating videos for your company ensure that you give them the appropriate tags. Good use of video SEO on YouTube will increase your visibility on Google massively. The vast majority of B2B businesses are not creating video on a regular basis. Those that are creating video often do not use the best video SEO techniques.
3. Local Events
Do not hide behind your website. Unfortunately many companies are known to their clients and business partners but outside of those relatively small circles they are completely unknown. When you visit and participate in local events relevant to your business you will raise your profile and expand your nextwork. Ideally a member of your team will speak at conferences, seminars and workshops and you’ll have the good sense to capture this on video and take photos that can distributed via Social Media. Go out and meet people! The objective here is to give those interested in your company the opportunity to meet you at events and for you to build relationships with them. It is no coincidence that most of the top YouTubers regularly hold ‘Meet and Greets’ for this purpose.
4. Geo Tagging
Tag your location whenever appropriate on Social Media. Do this consistently and you will build up your local profile. Use Geo- Tagging where it available, Instagram is a good example. For those of you active on SnapChat make use of Geo Filters. Regular references to your city make you more findable in local searches and easier for prospective customers and businesss partners to locate you.
